By Nuhameit and Ananya Fiseha
On March 9th, we had a St.Patrick’s Day theme Reading
buddies at Aspen Hill Library. Ananya, Nuhameit, and the Guernsey family were
the leaders of the March Reading Buddies. ‘
We started a week ago to prepare for this day. We were very
excited as this was our first time co-leading Reading Buddies! The Guernsey
family made Hats out of paper plates and decoration from green and lime color
thin paper. We (Ananya and Nuhameit) made Tie and little Leprechauns out of
paper and also beautiful Rainbows🌈 cut out of paper. The paper hat has a shape of Shamrock on
the top and decorated with crumble green and lime color thin paper. The
Leprechauns were made out of green and orange color card paper wearing green
hat.
We arrived at the Aspen Hill Library early and we all
took part in preparing the room Anaya and me helped my mom to arrange the
tables. With the help of Rose Justin, Megan Justin, Joy Luckabaugh and Lynda
Guernsey, we prepared the craft table and the books to read. We opened the door
at 1PM and there were about six kids in attendance. We read three books about
St.Patrick’s Day The Ring of Truth, How To Trap A Leprechaun and St.Patrick's
Day. Each of us took a turn in reading:
Ryan read “How to Trap A Leprechaun and Ananya read “St.Patrick’s Day”
and lastly, Nuhameit read “The Ring of
Truth”. All the books we read talk about St.Patrick’s Day celebration and about
Leprechaun traps and it was very fun.
After Reading the books, we did St.Patrick’s Day theme
crafts. We decorated the tiny Leprechauns and paper Ties with St.Patrick’s Day
theme stickers and markers. And for the Hats we used green and lime colored
thin papers and the paper rainbows. We used glues, markers, crayons and
scissors during our crafting. We had Goldfish, Gummies, Chocolate Cookies and
Tangerines for a snack
Although
we did not have as many kids as we expected to have, we all had fun reading and
doing crafts! We look forward to next month fun Reading Buddies!
