Electric Circuits, Spider Web, & Christmas in July!

We had a very busy 4-H meeting in July, with many interesting activities We finished our electricity project, had our normal business meeting, listened to two demos and even made Christmas ornaments in July!

First, we completed an electricity project, started in an earlier meeting, with Mr Hogan, teaching us about the use of electricity. We learned how to put together an electric circuit with a switch mechanism. We were given a set of supplies and were instructed to build a circuit with those parts. It was fun!

Then, Mia Barnes, our recreation leader led us in an icebreaker: the Human Spider Web. We threw a ball of yarn back and forth at each other, making sure to pass it to new people, and saying something about ourselves when we had the yarn.

There were two demos that evening: Everett Hutter talked about 3-D printing, he showed us the machine, that looked like a microwave, and explained how it worked. The second demos was presented by Penny Martin, who demonstrated ow to make yummy Cakes Pop.

Finally, the program of the night was making Christmas ornaments to be entered in the Fair as a club entry. Mrs. Martin guided us and she did a great job, since we won Blue Ribbon First Prize for our Club!
