BEST BEHAVIOR FOR 4-H BUSINESS MEETINGS AND GUEST SPEAKERS
When our Leaders start our Lucky Clovers 4-H Club monthly business meetings, or we invite a guest speaker to attend one of our club meetings, it is EXPECTED that we ALL sit quietly, paying attention and participating fully. Any other behavior may be misconstrued by our fellow 4-Hers or by our guests as rude and inappropriate, and rightly so! This includes constant chatting, getting up and down out of your seat for no apparent reason, making noises with hand, feet or any other means, opening and closing doors, and leaving the room to hang out somewhere else. We understand that you have had a long day, that sometimes you have to use the bathroom, or even have to go home early. But there is a need for more respectful behavior of our friends and siblings, and also during our guest speakers' presentations.
When the business meeting is ongoing, please be quiet. Do not carry on your own conversations when someone is giving a report. Pay attention to the demonstrations, and do not be a distraction to your fellow club members. Your 4-Her fellow put a lot of time in preparing these reports and presentations, and it is nice to show that we all appreciate their efforts. Also, for the older kids, remember how scary it was for you to speak when you were just eight or nine years old? Our Club has always provided a kind and nurturing environment for all our kids to grow, and we want it to remain it like that, don’t we?
When you have to make a report, please make sure you arrive on time, since there is an agenda, and these are scheduled for the beginning of the meeting. If you need to use the bathroom, go as quickly as you can and return to your seat. And if you have to leave early, sit in the back of the room so you can make a quiet exit. Let's show that we care for each other by being at our best behavior during these business meetings. After all, there will be plenty of time to chat and eat once the meetings are over!
